What Are the Costs Associated with the Name Change?

How Will This Affect My Taxes?
Changing the name to Oak Hills will NOT increase your taxes

The Michigan Township form of government is not changing. Oak Hills Charter Township will still be governed by all of the laws and regulations and procedures that are now followed by our elected officials.

All current elected officials will remain in office. All commissions and committees will remain in place. All employees will continue working. Only the name changes to Oak Hills.

The tax base for the Township is shrinking. Changing the name will encourage businesses to consider locating in Oak Hills and existing businesses to grow, expanding the tax base with the possibility of reducing property taxes.

The Township Board of the Charter Township of Flint, at a meeting held July 20, 2026, resolved that the name of the Charter Township of Flint be changed to Charter Township of Oak Hills. Shall the electors of the Township approve that resolution?
